Llamas have been making quite a party scene these last few years. I don’t blame them. They are such cute and fluffy animals. My kids love the Llama Llama book series, and if given the option of a llama party or a unicorn party, I have no doubt my daughter would pick a llama party!
If you are deciding if this is the right theme for your party or you are already planning a llama party, I have some great ideas and items that will make your party unforgettable.
Llama Party Invitations
The first impression of any party is the invitation. We want to ensure the details are clear with the date, beginning and end time (don’t need guests overstaying their welcome), location, and information to RSVP. I have included a variety of invitations to kick off your little one’s party!
You have options for your invites. You can:
- Purchase standard, pre-made invites and hand write your details.
- Purchase personalized invites, where you can edit the card online before it gets printed.
Let’s look at each one.
Llama Pre-made Invitations
Pre-made invitations are an easy way to go. These allow you to fill in the specific information for your party. One of the biggest pros to this type of invitation is you don’t have to worry about getting it printed from a store. Instead, you can order them, fill out the information, and mail them to your invitees.
If you want to add many additional details, this might not be the best option since there is little room for further information. In that case, consider the personalized invites in the next section.
Llama Printable Personalized Invitations
With a printable personalized invitation, you can order the templates and print them at home or at your local print store. I love how adorable they are, and you can personalize them to your liking, but printing them can be a hassle.
If you have a nice printer at home and card stock paper, you can print them from your home, but if you do not have those accessible, you would need to find a local store or one online that will print and ship to your house. I usually use my local CVS or Staples.
I find this option takes the most time because you have to upload the document to the store’s online printing center, order them to be printed, and either pick them up in the store or have them shipped to your house. This is the more costly of the two invitation options.
Llama Party Supplies and Decorations:
I love decorating for my kids’ birthdays and have found some adorable decorations for you to display at your party. I also included supplies for your food and drinks!
I love having a garland that I can hang behind the food or gift table, and I feel this is a perfect option!
At a recent party I attended, the pinata was the hit of the party! The kids loved it and were excited to get the candy when it burst open! I recommend passing out bags to kids prior so they can collect the candy, but also have extra candy to throw out to ensure everyone gets some.
I like to have some hanging items to add around the party location last minute if needed to fill in more decorations.
An adorable banner that says happy birthday is a must for any birthday party, and this one with the Llama and cactus is perfect.
I like to have options for centerpieces. I often buy things printed on cardstock that are on a stick, and I can stick them into a jar, pot, bowl, etc., with a filling. I think these centerpiece sticks would look cute in mason jars filled with marbles or crinkle-cut shredded paper.
Every party needs to have balloons! You can decide to blow them up yourself, or you can use helium, depending on what you are looking for.
These balloons you could hang around to add even more Llamas to the decor.
I love a balloon arch, and the kits make it so much easier than it looks! This kit includes a giant cactus and a pink and green tassel decoration!
Plates, Napkins, and Cutlery
I often try to find matching plates or solid colors for a kid’s party that match the color theme.
Here is a set of napkins, plates, and utensils that are Llama themed. It also comes with a tablecloth and a banner!
I typically buy rolls of a single color and then have them to use for future parties. If you are interested in doing that, I recommend these solid tablecloths.
If you want a llama-themed tablecloth, then this is a great option below.
Llama Party Activities and Games
Having activities and games for the guest to participate in during the party always adds excellent entertainment. I have held parties where everyone participates in the same activity at once, but I also have done stations with different activities for the guest to rotate through.
With younger kids, I have found stations to be the most successful since there are smaller groups at each station, and they have more opportunities to participate and stay engaged in the activity longer. Here are some activities I found that would be great for a llama-themed party!
“Pin the tail on the Llama” Game
As a kid, I loved playing pin the tail on the donkey at parties, so seeing a llama version makes me so happy. And the best part of this game is the llama poster can also be an excellent backdrop for pictures!
Kids love tattoos, so why not have a llama-themed tattoo station at your party to cover your guest with adorable little llamas? These could also be a great favor for your guests.
I’m awful at capturing pictures at my kids’ birthday parties, so when I saw these photo booth props, I thought it would be a great way to get pictures of all the party guests!
Llama Themed Food and Drinks
I love my food, so when I throw a party, I always think about the food and usually go overboard. But at least it makes me happy! I have made birthday cakes, but I also have ordered them. Honestly, that is up to you and what you want to do.
I find cakes can take a long time, so when I know I will be busy and have a lot of other things I want to make for the party, I outsource the cake or cupcakes to a local bakery or use our local grocery store as well.
Cake or Cupcakes Topper
If you plan to decorate your own cake, here is a great topper for a cake or cupcakes.
Another attractive option is using these cute cupcake wrappers.
If you want to make your own cake or cookies, check out Ginger Burn’s Pinterest board for some adorable ideas.
Llama Lemonade has a great ring to it. So for a beverage, you can make some delicious lemonade and put a label for llama lemonade on the container!
Nachos or Tacos
A great main course meal option for a llama party would be nachos or tacos. Here is an excellent recipe for a taco bar.
Llama Themed Gift Ideas
I always love to purchase a gift that is the theme of my kid’s party. Then, throughout the year, as they play with it or we read a book about that theme, we can always share memories of the party.
The fidget pop toys are a huge hit in my house, and here are some that are llamas!

If the party is for someone 10 or older, this llama string art kit is the perfect gift!
The number of stuffed animals my daughter has is insane, but I also remember loving them when I was a child. So you can never go wrong with giving a stuffed llama as a gift at a llama party.
The Llama Llama series is such a cute series for younger kids. So, of course, the original Llama Llama book would be a perfect gift. Or even the whole set!
Outfits for a Llama Party
I love a mommy and me matching set for a party. If you can get the whole family to wear matching shirts, that is a big win. My husband will go with the flow but often grudgingly.
I love this set if it is just you and the birthday girl.
This is an adorable set if you are looking for shirts for the whole family.
Party Favors for a Llama Party
Whether or not to give out party favors is up to you and what you want to do. The main focus of your party is the guest and, of course, your little one. As long as your guests and little one are having a good time, that’s your primary concern. A party favor will be a bonus if they’re having a great time! Here are some great ideas if you decide to go with a favor.
I love a cute bag for favors, and these llama bags are perfect for any small favor.
My kids love stickers. They love the ones below that have the animal, and you add accessories and body parts. Here are a couple of different cute ones:
Straws are another favorite favor of my daughter, so I know she and many other kids would love these adorable llama straws.
A cute art and crafts activity is always great for a favor. These rhinestone llamas are a perfect addition to any favor bag.
Thank You Cards for a Llama Party
During the party, I typically ask a relative to write in a notebook about who gave a gift and what they gave so I can write thank you after the party. I usually write the thank you since my kids are still young, but I have them sign the card with some help. I also like to let them color the envelope to add a little something special to it.
If you are looking for a thank you that is Llama themed, but you can personalize each card, then this is the one for you.
This is perfect if you want a card that is easy to fill in!
I hope all these wonderful ideas help you with your Llama themed party.
