Many children worldwide have become fans of the Australian pup family and their pals. If you are here, I assume your child is one of them, and you are trying to figure out how to throw a Bluey themed birthday party.
When planning a party, one of the first steps after determining the theme is picking the colors. For a Bluey themed party, the colors blue and orange are the most popular. The blue and orange match the characters Bluey and Bingo.
You’ll find everything you need to get started below. I have included invitations, decorations, food, and games to play at your party.
Bluey Party Invitations
The first impression of your Bluey party is the invitation. You want the details to be clear with the date, beginning and end time, location, and information to RSVP.
Make Your Invitations
If you have a printer at home, you can use this template. All you will need is scissors and glue. You will then fill out the information for your party!
Bluey Printable Personalized Invitations
With a printable personalized invitation, you can order the templates and print them at home or at your local print store. You can personalize them to your liking, which I love. However, I want to warn you that printing them can be a hassle.
You can print them from home if you have a nice printer and card stock paper. If you do not have an accessible printer, you need to find a local or online store that will print and ship to your house. I usually use my local CVS or Staples for pickup. Or I will use Vista Print or Snapfish if I want them shipped to my house.
I find this option takes the most time because you have to upload the document to the store’s online printing center, order them to be printed, and either pick them up in the store or have them shipped to your house. This is the more costly of the invitation options.
Bluey Digital Invitation
So many of us find ourselves on our phones or a form of technology more and more these days. So many things have a digital option, and birthday invitations are one of them. You can even find adorable animated birthday invitations for your Bluey party. This is my favorite one.
Bluey Party Supplies and Decorations:
Decorating for my kids’ birthdays is my favorite part of throwing a party. I have found some adorable decorations for you to display at your party. I also included supplies for your food and drinks!
If you are looking for a Bluey decoration kit that includes almost everything you will need for your party, I recommend this kit. It consists of a backdrop, balloons, one tablecloth, two centerpieces, cupcake toppers, a birthday sign, and Bluey decorations.
I do enjoy the large kits, but they don’t always include enough of everything I need for my party. If that is the case for you, here are some additional options.
I enjoy making my centerpieces, but I am a busy mom so sometimes purchasing them is the best option. If you want to keep it simple, here is a great option.
A balloon arch adds the perfect touch to a party. I will set it up as the backdrop for a photo booth or place the birthday child under it when we sing happy birthday for a great backdrop with their cake. I will admit balloon arches were very intimidating initially, and I thought I needed to hire a professional to have one. However, I gained the courage to try it, and with the help of a balloon pump, I completed my first one in 2 hours. Of course, it does take time, but the result is worth it!
My kids and I love balloons. They add the perfect touch to the party decorations. I suggest getting a helium tank to blow the balloons up, but they will work if you blow them up. Unfortunately, they will not float, so you must get creative in how you hang them.
Plates, Napkins, Cups, and Cutlery
I prefer to purchase a solid color for the plates, napkins, cups, and cutlery. I like to be able to reuse it for future parties, but also I like the decorations to be the theme and stand out. When the napkins and plates are the Bluey theme, it can be a lot for people to take in and appreciate if you have a lot of other Bluey decorations.
I like these if you want solid plates, napkins, and cutlery. They have multiple colors available, so you could use a blue or orange theme color.
If you decide to use solid colors for decorations, then the themed plates and napkins may be the perfect touch. Here is the Bluey set I recommend.
A Bluey themed tablecloth will be perfect if you use solid plates and napkins. Here is a set of 3.
I recommend doing a solid tablecloth if you picked themed plates and napkins. I would choose blue, light blue, or orange to go with the Bluey Theme. I find I reuse the blue most often. So if you think you’ll save the roll for future parties, blue is my recommendation.
A banner is a fabulous backdrop for the main table. Or you can use it as a backdrop for a photo opportunity for the guest. Bluey, Bingo, and their pals are included in this one.
Bluey Party Activities & Games
Having activities and games for the guest to participate in during the party is important for a kid’s birthday party. I have held parties where everyone participates in the same activity simultaneously. I have also done stations with different activities for the guest to rotate through at each station.
With younger kids, I find stations to be the most successful since there are smaller groups of children at each station, so they have more opportunities to participate, resulting in them staying engaged in the activity longer.
Here are some activities I found that would be great for a Bluey Party!
Charades might be the perfect game to keep your guest entertained if you are throwing a party for an older Bluey fan. You can use these printout cards that include characters and objects from the show. Bluey Charade Print Out
A scavenger hunt is always fun to entertain the birthday child and guest. Print out Bluey pictures (you can use this template, you will need to color the pictures) and hide the items around the party location. You can let your guest know how many Bluey characters they need to find, or you can make a template with the characters and give it to them to check off each character picture as they see it.
Sticky Gecko Game
The twelfth episode of Season 2 is called Sticky Gecko. In this episode, Bluey and Bingo play a game of sticky gecko. They use the ceiling, but I prefer a target to throw it add. Here are some sticky geckos and a target you can use.
A Pinata is often a kid’s favorite party activity. You don’t have to stuff it with only candy. You could add little Bluey themed favors. I find it hard to justify spending more than $30 on a Pinata, but this one is adorable if you can.
If you are like me and can’t justify spending that much, I recommend a complete DIY or purchase a cheaper pinata and redecorate it.
If you want to redecorate a cheaper Pinata, here are the steps to what I have done.
- I purchase a pinata like this one.
- I remove the design (in this case, the black for the soccer ball). Typically you can carefully peel it off.
- I then use streamers, construction paper, or tissue paper to redecorate with the color scheme I want.
- I will make a cutout design with construction paper or print a picture of the theme’s characters. These cutouts are designed for balloons, but you could also use them on a pinata to make a Bluey and Bingo.
- Glue or tape your design onto your pinata, and you have a much cheaper option for your guest to enjoy.
Food Ideas for a Bluey Party:
Food is always on my mind. I love my food. I usually go overboard for my kid’s party, but at least it makes me happy! Also, I love foods that match the party’s theme, which I have provided below.
Food for the party
Salad. Bingo thinks the salad is a big deal in the show, so yes, it is a basic addition to the party, but it goes with the theme. Any of your favorite recipes will work for this!
Popcorn. You can make blue and orange popcorn using this popcorn recipe.
German Sausage. A pal of Bluey and Bingo’s is Gruber, and his dad sells German sausages at the market, so why not add a sausage meal to the party to go with the Bluey theme. I like grilling sausage and serving it with onions and peppers. But this is a delicious kid-friendly sausage recipe you could make.
Drinks for the party
I love having a special drink. I think for a Bluey party, you could either add blue food coloring to lemonade for Bluey’s Lemonade, or you could make a blue punch drink. This recipe looks delicious!
Cake Ideas for a Bluey Party
I have made birthday cakes, but I also have ordered them. But, honestly, that is up to you and what you want to do. I find cakes can take a long time, so when I know I will be busy and have a lot of other things I want to make for the party, I outsource the cake or cupcakes to a local bakery or use our local grocery store as well.
If you are looking for inspiration for a cake, here are Bluey cake ideas.
If you want to follow the Bluey Theme, you could make the Famous Bluey Duck Cake!
A cake topper is an excellent addition if you plan to decorate your cake or even get a store-bought one.
Bluey Theme Gift Ideas
I always love to purchase a gift that is the theme of my kid’s party. Then, as they play with it throughout the year, we can share memories of the party.
Outfits for a Bluey Party
You may be contemplating if you should dress only the birthday child up or the whole family dress the party for a Bluey bash. I love having the entire family dress up for the theme. I don’t give the husband a choice and order him his shirt. Luckily he has been a good sport and dressed his part.
If you have a birthday girl and are looking for a cute dress for her, I recommend this one.
Bluey Party Favor Ideas
If you decide whether to give out party favors, know it is up to you and what you want to do. The main focus of your Bluey party is celebrating your little one and that the guests are enjoying themselves. As long as everyone is having a good time, that’s your primary focus. A party favor will be a bonus! Here are some great ideas if you decide to go with a favor.
I would start with finding your gift bags. I love these Bluey gift bags.
Then after finding your bags, decide what you want to fill them with.
You could do an entire Bluey themed party bag with a Bluey mask, stickers, bracelets, and pins.
Or you could include a wooden bone or paw with a small paint set the kids could paint at home.
Another adorable idea is to have a basket of stuffed animal dogs and have each guest adopt one and take it home as a favor!
You have picked an excellent theme for your child’s birthday. I hope you enjoy planning it and have a wonderful day! Happy Birthday to your little one!
